Podcasts are an impactful and convenient format, and we were thrilled to accept Matthieu Cura from Optimistik’s invitation to share our experience on the topic of circularity.
Circularity of materials and energy in industry is based on the idea of creating sustainable systems that minimize waste and maximize resource use. Essentially, it’s about continuously improving businesses by leveraging familiar models of continuous improvement, while focusing on resilience and long-term viability as much as reducing environmental impacts.
This economic model, among other things, aims to reduce the extraction of new resources by promoting recycling, reuse and waste recovery. Key principles include eco-responsible product design, which facilitates disassembly and recycling. Optimizing supply chains is also essential, favoring the use of renewable and recycled materials. Additionally, energy management becomes crucial: industries must adopt practices to reduce energy consumption while integrating renewable energy sources.
Finally, collaboration between different stakeholders—producers, consumers, and local authorities—is indispensable to develop synergies. By adopting a circular approach, industries can not only reduce their environmental footprint but also achieve significant cost savings and create new economic opportunities.
Circularity thus represents a promising pathway toward sustainable industrialization and lasting profitability.
